Volunteering to Make a Difference

The notion of 'Volunteerism' is growing, with younger people, mostly taking up their gap years or have just graduated from universities - Taking up opportunities to volunteer and go on a holiday at the same time.

We have here a Smaller Earth volunteer from the United Kingdom itself, Claire Burtenshaw from Yorkshire joining us, as she shares her goals and her experiences volunteering with us here in Peru.

Her message is strong as she believed in Volunteering to Make a Difference in the Life of Others, and to support the fact that we could still have fun while doing Good to the community.

Like Claire, we were in a mountain-biking trip on one of the volcanoes in beautiful Arequipa, Peru, during our weekends, away from our volunteering duties of building Water-Tanks for family members in the rural town of Los Angeles in the outer regions of Arequipa.

By the way, we have just learnt that our Water-Tanks have helped 107 families gain access to clean water! That is the reward we get!
