Friday morning was definitely character-building! Me and the other girls were up at 4:30am and ready to leave at 5:30. When we got to the train station in Mumbai we had to move up and down two flights of stairs and my suitcase broke as we were carrying it up the steps. Great, seven months and it breaks at a train station! Oh well, silver lining: I'm very happy there's a big strong man like Rajeev willing to help me out! Imagine if I'd been alone. Little ole me wet and dragging the way-too-heavy bag containing things like my sparkly purse that suddenly seems much less important...hm...On another note, we waited 40 minutes for our train. Right before the train pulled into the station the rain started pouring again and we had to walk in it to reach our track so all our things were soaked, AGAIN. When we boarded, there was a lot of shuffling around with everyone trying to find the most comfy option and taking gambles sitting in seats that weren't ours. Of course this was accompanied by a good bit of grumpiness. Something tells me Rajeev thinks we’re divas. Well, to be fair he said as much. Oh well. He's probably over us now, but we’re over the rain!
So the train was OK, seats were a bit hard, but they bring around chai tea and snacks all the time! Most of us had two seats to spread across, so all is well, the scenery outside is green and lush.
A decent trip...except for the cockroaches that are moving around (hey, I said it was a character-building trip) Not sure if I’m itching because I’m paranoid or because I’ll have welts later. ICK. Aside from the stories I've heard of things laying eggs in your ears when you're snoozing, I’m scared to sleep because I think someone will come along and want their seat! Thank goodness for me it didn't happen at all during our 15-hour (yes I said 15-hour) trip. It was supposed to be 12, but I guess rain slows things down?
Good news: the past three days we’ve been so used to being exhausted and wet and just generally uncomfortable I think anything we find in Goa will seem like bliss, maybe that’s why they do it this way? I kid, I kid.

We had dinner then checked out our room. Four of us were in one room with bunk beds. The room had a fan, we had mosquito nets, and an en suite bathroom. Decent accommodations!
