We got up early for a mountain biking trip provided as part of this tanking project! Even before we got out of the car, we could see this would be a gorgeous ride!
The scenery was breathtaking, and I was going down the hillside thinking how awesome this is when BAM! Right on my face and it took like 10 seconds so I could see it coming but couldn’t do a darn thing to stop it. Got up, brushed myself off, and kept riding.
Even with substantial bruising and a ton of pain, the scenery was so magnificent I was in a pretty good mood right after my fall. I couldn’t get over how wonderful this all is. It is such a blessing to be here and who would have known this could happen?
Last May I was wondering what to do next. I had no job, the job I had left hadn’t left me with much experience doing things I needed for the jobs I wanted in the future, and I was freaking out. Then everything turned around, I started getting good job offers, I took one and loved it, and then I won Your Big Year! I went from having no opportunities to an embarrassment of riches in them and I am so grateful I’m getting to see the world and meet awesome people now.
So as I rode down that hillside I thought about all the people reading this blog or entering the YBY competition this year who may be going through a hard time. Keep your chin up, it does get better, you won’t always feel this way. A year ago when I felt like everything was falling apart I couldn’t see myself riding down a mountainside in Peru, so we never know where life will take us. Just enjoy the ride…speaking of which, the rocky terrain is hard on your bum.
